Adding F: Integrating Family Throughout the ABCDE Bundle
August 21, 2015  |

Nashville, TN - AACN Critical Care Webinar Series

Description

Most nurses in critical care are familiar with the concepts of the ABCDE bundle. This bundle is universal in that it applies to critically ill patients no matter what the underlying diagnosis. Recently, work has been done to realign more closely with the Pain, Agitation and Delirium guidelines, which are currently being updated. Included in this update is the “F” for family engagement and empowerment.

This webinar will briefly discuss the history of the ABCDE bundle and describe the areas where the bundle has been updated and refined. In addition, the inclusion of the family throughout the process of care as well as in the bundle elements will be discussed. The goal is to build on the concept of family presence and elevate family contributions to engagement and empowerment.
